The TerraMaster range has expanded to include the D2 Clone USB External Hard Drive Enclosure, a 2-bay device that can be used for drive cloning (such as backing up or archiving data) and external storage.
Cloning is performed without computer involvement. Supports 2.5″ solid-state drives and 2.5 and 3.5″ hard drives as long as they are equipped with a SATA interface. The maximum storage capacity is 18 TB. When cloning an SSD, the speed reaches 550 MB/s, while cloning an HDD – 200 MB/s. The progress of the copying is monitored by LED indicators. The display indicator makes clear the progress and status of the clone.
When used as external storage with direct attachment (DAS), the USB 3.1 Gen1 interface is used, the signals of which are output to the USB Type-C connector. The read speed, in this case, reaches 390M MB/s, the write speed is 420 MB/s. Combining drives into an array is not provided. It supports MAC, Windows or Linux cross-platform operating system, there is no need to install any driver.
The D2 Clone USB External Hard Drive Enclosure is made of aluminum. Coupled with one fan on the back, this provides sufficient cooling for the drives. The advantages of D2 Clone include protection against accidental cloning and data loss in the event of a power failure. If the cloning task is not confirmed within 10 seconds, the cloning procedure will automatically stop.
