Samsung Galaxy A14 5G Hands-On: First Impression
Samsung has recently unveiled the latest addition to its Galaxy A 2023 series – the Galaxy A14 5G. The phone has been upgraded in appearance to match Samsung’s 2023 design style, featuring a 3-camera system with vertical alignment and no borders around the glass. This design language is reminiscent of the high-end Galaxy S23 series, as well as the mid-range duo of phones – the Galaxy A34 5G (Hands-on) and Galaxy A54 5G (Hands-on).
Because it belongs to the low-cost segment, the Galaxy A14 5G has a body made of plastic. However, the way Samsung has completed this back is quite impressive, not creaking and still exuding a luxurious look when held in the hand. The Korean company also designed a pattern running along the body to help prevent sweat and fingerprints effectively. Meanwhile, our Samsung Galaxy A14 5G hands-on version mentioned here comes in purple.
On the front, the Galaxy A14 5G features a 6.6-inch Infinity-V display that uses an LCD panel with Full HD+ resolution. As expected in the low-cost segment, the bezels on the edges of the phone are still quite thick, especially the “chin” part, but this is unavoidable.
The device has a good display with clear and pleasing colors, and the displayed content is easily discernible, providing a practical experience. On the right side of the handset, there are volume up and down keys and a power button, which also integrates a sensitive one-touch fingerprint sensor that almost immediately unlocks the device when touched by the finger.
On the left side of the device, you can find the SIM tray. The bottom edge of the handset has a 3.5mm audio jack, a Mic hole, a USB Type-C port, and an external speaker strip. On the top edge, there is only a second mic hole, making it quite empty.
The Samsung Galaxy A14 5G is equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 700 7nm processor, which is a low-cost segment chip that provides sufficient performance to meet basic needs. The device has up to 6GB RAM and 128GB internal memory, which can be expanded with a memory card slot that supports up to 1TB capacity. When sold, the phone comes pre-installed with the One UI 5.0 user interface based on the Android 13 operating system.
Despite not being too powerful, the Galaxy A14 5G still delivers excellent performance, more than enough to cater to users’ daily needs, including web browsing, movie streaming, and playing mid-level games with almost no lags or jerks even at medium graphics settings.
The Galaxy A14 5G boasts promising photography capabilities with its 3-camera system consisting of a 50MP main sensor, a 5MP super wide-angle lens, and a 2MP macro camera. This versatile camera system allows users to effortlessly capture beautiful moments in their daily lives.
In addition to the rear camera system, the phone also features a 13MP front camera with integrated photography, beauty, portrait, and wide-angle features similar to other Galaxy phones.
The Galaxy A14 5G from Samsung is equipped with a 5,000mAh battery capacity that promises an impressive usage time of up to 2 days. Additionally, the device supports fast charging with a 15W capacity, ensuring a shorter charging time.
Overall, the Galaxy A14 5G is a remarkable product in the budget segment with its youthful design, stunning camera, sufficient performance, and enough battery life to last all day. The product is an excellent choice for basic users who require a quality and affordable phone for short-term use.
