Onkyo Granbeat Hi-Res Tablet With 4K Display, 4 DTS Speakers, 12,000mAh Battery at MWC 2018

Onkyo Hi-Res Tablet

New Onkyo tablet called the Granbeat Hi-Res Tablet, the prototype introduced at MWC 2018. It features a 12.5-inch display with 4K resolution, powered by a Snapdragon 820 or 845 SoC paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.

The tablet has a 5-megapixels front-facing camera for selfie and video calling, it packs a 12000mAh battery and has USB-C port. The Granbeat Hi-Res Tablet comes equipped with the renowned Onkyo audio player, it is definitely a DNA-capable professional music player with the support of the ES9018K2M DAC chip, the independent SABER 9601 and ODMD (Onkyo Double-Molding Diaphragm) developed by the company.

Hidenaki Tsuchida, the company’s director of project development, said the tablet is aimed at high-quality content streams that are trending today. The tablet is equipped with a 12.5-inch display with 4K (3840 x 2160 pixels) resolution, developed by people who already have experience in making high-end Pioneer TVs.

The tablet still in prototype, the display quality is extremely good in terms of color, sharpness, darkness, and contrast. In terms of listening, the tablet is equipped with four speakers located at the four corners of the front, each speaker uses Onkyo’s proprietary ODMD speaker technology, delivering high-quality stereo sound to the listener. Also supports DTS: X Premium.

Of course, there is the 3.5mm gold plated jack on this tablet. Equipped with the ES9018K2M DAC chip, in conjunction with the two ESS 9601K Amplifier chips. Granbeat Hi-Res Tablet also features Bluetooth aptX HD, DTS Play-Fi for playing music over WiFi, and runs Android 8.0 Oreo with Google Assistant.

Onkyo said the product they brought to MWC18 is just a prototype (with external charging dock), no further information on its official release date and price.
