Mitakon Speedmaster 50mm T1 Cine Lens for Micro Four Thirds

Mitakon Zhongyi Optics has unveiled the fourth Mitakon Speedmaster 50mm T1 cine lens for Micro Four-Thirds cameras. The complete set of optics for filming movies on MFT cameras now consists of 17, 25, 35, and 50mm, all with T1 apertures. Not so long ago, we wrote in the news about the full-frame version of this lens. It was designed for PL and EF mounts and cost $999. Today it’s the turn of the equally popular MFT mount, and this lens will cost more than 2 times cheaper.

The Mitakon Speedmaster 50mm T1 MFT is a compact and lightweight cinema lens with a metal body. The lens is the heaviest of this set of cinema optics, its weight is 720 g, it is also slightly larger than its counterparts – it is 10.2 cm long, while 17/25/35 mm lenses are 9.9 cm. and it’s supposed to be for kits, all gears are in place so that lenses can be safely changed from one to another without having to rebuild the follow focus.

But the Steadicam may have to be reconfigured. In addition, all Speedmaster cine lenses have internal focusing, which means that when the focus is changed, all elements remain inside the body, which will help shoot on Steadicams.

The Speedmaster 50mm T1 MFT consists of 9 elements in 6 groups, 1 EL (Extra Low Dispersion), 1 UH (Ultra High Refractive) element, and 5 High Refractive Low Dispersion elements.

T1 aperture creates nice soft bokeh in the image, 9-blade aperture. The outer diameter of the lens is 80 mm for installing compendium (film blends), and the diameter for the light filter is 77 mm. The minimum 1focusing distance is 60 cm.
