Lenovo Yoga C930 Review

After years of designing hinges for Yoga line, Lenovo decided to change this hinge with a unique range of speakers on the Lenovo Yoga C930. The purpose of this change to help you sit in any position, the sound of this laptop still reaches you. In addition, this flagship laptop has many other interesting things waiting for you to discover in the Lenovo Yoga C930 review below.

Lenovo Yoga C930 Review

Design

The first impression when looking at Yoga C930 is that the hinge design of the 2-in-1 has been replaced by the ultra-high quality Dolby Atmos. No matter how you rotate the laptop, the sound is always facing you.

This design can be said to be highly entertaining, hopefully, it will continue to be brought to the mainstream laptop for many people to experience.

The entire body from head to tail is covered by metal for a very luxurious feel. The weight of the Yoga C930 has increased to about 1.4 kg, but it is also thin and light, but when holding this laptop, it feels firm and good to hold.

Lenovo Yoga C930 design

The next thing we care about is the thinness of the 2-in-1 up to 14.5 mm. Therefore, Yoga C930 had to sacrifice quite a lot of connectors and only keep on the right side, USB 3.1, USB C ports (the first port includes the charging port function) and 3.5 mm audio jack.

Next, to the right side, we only have one power button and the back is the place for the stylus to be able to charge itself when plugged in. The location of the pen placed there is somewhat reasonable to design a slim-thin device.

But the minus point is that the pen is clamped with a pretty heavy spring inside, which means you have to apply a very strong force to get the pen to use.

Not to mention that it was difficult to put the pen next to the power button, and even accidentally turned off the device. Hopefully, Lenovo will fix this weakness for the next version.

Maybe, it will also a part of the reason is that we’re not used to this operation very much.

As we know, Lenovo Yoga C930 has two color options: black and silver. Currently, we are holding and evaluating the silver color model. In our opinion, We found the silver color is more beautiful, giving the luxury feeling than the black.

Display

We will see the screen border has been laminated up to 3 very beautiful edges on the Lenovo Yoga C930. On the lower side, the manufacturer tried very hard to make it as thin as possible, but because of the unique sound bar design in the hinge part, the bottom edge must be so thick.

Lenovo Yoga C930 Display

Talking about the display, Yoga C930 owns a touch screen with 4K resolution, which is extremely sharp and colorful. Of course, with the screen of a flagship like this, we will have a wide viewing angle and a good glare resistance.

The touch screen of the device can receive up to 10 touch points at the same time, giving fast response time and smooth touch gestures.

Keyboard, Trackpad and Fingerprint sensor

Perhaps the keyboard on Yoga C930 is not very satisfied when using as we feel. The key’s journey is quite shallow, the keys are a bit hard and feel pretty hands-on and give a pretty loud sound, instead of listening softly like many other chiclet keyboards.

Lenovo Yoga C930 Keyboard

We don’t know if it is because the manufacturer thinks that users prefer to manipulate more with a touch-sensitive keyboard, but really with the physical keyboard on Yoga C930 like this is not worthy of the flagship standard.

The trackpad provides fast and responsive feedback and is able to recognize gestures very well when exposed to mild water, which means that people with sweaty hands can still use it easily.

A fingerprint sensor is a large and one-touch type as on a smartphone, very fast and convenient, which helps improve security for Lenovo Yoga C930 laptop.

Performance

In addition to the 4K screen, the configuration of Lenovo Yoga C930 is one of the most advanced versions comes with the Intel Core i7 8550U CPU, clocked at 1.8 GHz, 16GB of RAM, 512GB PCIe SSD and Intel Graphic 620 integrated graphics card.

Lenovo Yoga C930 Gaming

Testing the performance evaluation with Geekbench software, the laptop achieved a score of 22,082 points.

Using with normal office software or some graphics software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, the device runs very fast and smooth. This is due to a large amount of RAM combined with the use of new generation SSD drives.

One of the interesting points is that the Lenovo Yoga C930 has a swivel design so you can use it in any position to facilitate the most convenient operation. We can use in the form of clamshell as a traditional laptop, tent form for office presentation or tablet form for drawing, and creative work.

Experimenting playing some games like the Alliance or PUBG to see if the Lenovo Yoga C930 can fight good games or not. Unexpectedly with the Alliance set at a high average configuration, the frame rate per second is 120 FPS and PUBG, even if the lowest configuration is available, the frame rate per second falls to 15 FPS.

Lenovo Yoga C930 Performance

This is understandable because the Yoga C930 is definitely not used to play games, but mostly for everyday work, so the gaming test is for reference only.

Speakers and heat sink

As mentioned in the first section, the Yoga C930 has a Dolby Atmos speaker in front and also has a pair of speakers on the bottom of the device. Experience the sound on this laptop is very great, especially with the vibrant EDM version.

The bass was strong and powerful, while the mid and treble were somewhat warmer and softer. These three loudspeakers let the sound blend together to feel like you’re in the theater.

Lenovo Yoga C930 Speakers

With Yoga C930, We also do not see any radiator slot by the monolithic design of the laptop. After more than 2 hours of using, We feel the device will warm up slightly in the resting area.

Battery life

At first, we speculated that if we had to shoulder 4K screen like that, the battery life of Yoga C930 would probably not be high, but the truth completely surprised us.

When we use the device in 4K resolution, 80% screen brightness, 30% speaker volume, WiFi on continuously, using normal office software. The laptop can support more than 14 consecutive hours in the above conditions.

Lenovo Yoga C930 Battery

In addition, We also tried to measure the battery life with Batterymon software with conditions slightly higher than the above, the result we have is more than 9 hours of continuous use.

If you own a laptop with good battery life like this, it will definitely be comfortable to use for a long day of work. No more worrying about having to charge or find a power outlet, you just need to focus on working well and the performance will be much higher.

Final line

With a price range of around $1,999 for this laptop, it may make many of us think. However, in the high-end segment, we see this is the first 2-in-1 laptop equipped with a touchscreen display with 4K resolution and high-end configuration such as 512GB SSD and 16GB RAM, Perfectly suited for multi-tasking or other tasks.

Surely this will be a new convenient option for entrepreneurs, offering them a powerful laptop to work more efficiently.
