Fujifilm X-S20 Mirrorless Camera and FUJINON XF8mmF3.5 R WR lens announced

In the ever-evolving world of photography and content creation, Fujifilm continues to push boundaries with its latest releases, the Fuji X-S20 mirrorless digital camera and the FUJINON XF8mmF3.5 R WR Lens. Fuji X-S20

Building upon the success of its predecessor, the X-S10, the Fujifilm X-S20 introduces a host of new features and capabilities. Powered by an AI-based subject-detection autofocus (AF) system, this camera takes focusing to new heights, with the ability to detect and track animals, birds, cars, motorcycles, bicycles, airplanes, trains, insects, and drones. The enhanced AF prediction algorithm ensures reliable and stable focusing, even in AF-C mode.

One standout feature of the X-S20 is the AUTO Subject Detection function, which automatically identifies and tracks subjects, ensuring they remain in sharp focus. This feature, combined with the AUTO mode that selects optimal settings for different scenes, makes it effortless to produce stunning stills and videos with professional-quality results.

In addition, the X-S20 offers a wide range of 19 Film Simulation modes, these Film Simulation presets enable photographers to achieve various looks and moods reminiscent of classic photographic films.

The X-S20 boasts a lightweight and compact form factor, weighing in at just 1.08 lbs (491g). Equipped with a high-capacity battery, the X-S20 delivers an impressive battery life of approximately 800 frames in Economy Mode, more than double that of its predecessor.

To ensure crisp and sharp images, even in challenging shooting conditions, the X-S20 features a five-axis in-body image stabilization (IBIS) mechanism, providing up to 7.0 stops of stabilization.

The X-S20 also offers a versatile shooting experience with its 2.36-million-dot Electronic Viewfinder (EVF) and 1.84-million-dot rear LCD monitor with vari-angle capabilities, perfect for self-portraits and vlogging.

The Fujifilm X-S20 takes video recording to the next level, offering the ability to record 6.2K/30P 4:2:2 10-bit video internally. It supports a wide range of video functions, including high-speed 1080/240P slow motion and 4K/60P streaming through USB-C. With F-Log2, videographers can capture footage with an expanded dynamic range of 13+ stops, providing enhanced tonality and greater flexibility in post-production.

The X-S20 can be used as a webcam without the need for additional software, thanks to its USB-Type C connectivity.

FUJINON XF 8mm F3.5 R WR Lens

Complementing the X-S20, Fujifilm presents the FUJINON XF 8mm F3.5 R WR, an ultra-wide angle lens offering an equivalent 35mm focal length of 12mm. With a remarkable diagonal angle of view of 121 degrees and a horizontal angle of view of 112 degrees, this lens opens up exciting possibilities for capturing expansive landscapes, architectural marvels, and dynamic scenes.

The XF 8mm F3.5 lens consists of 12 lens elements in nine groups, featuring three aspherical elements and two extra-low dispersion (ED) elements. It achieves lightning-fast autofocus speeds as fast as 0.02 seconds.

Despite its impressive performance, the lens remains lightweight and compact, weighing approximately 7.6 ounces (215g), making it an ideal everyday carry item.

Designed with durability in mind, the XF 8mm F3.5 lens is dust and weather-resistant, boasting 10 weather-sealed locations. It can withstand harsh shooting conditions and operates reliably in temperatures as low as 14 degrees Fahrenheit (-10 degrees Celsius). The front lens element features a fluorine coating, repelling water and protecting against stains, ensuring worry-free shooting even in challenging weather conditions.

The Fuji X-S20 mirrorless camera body and lens kits are available for pre-order from Bhphotovideo.com and Adorama.com and will be shipped from June 29th, 2023.
