Asus has recently unveiled its budget office monitor, the VA27DQF, offering a full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels at a refreshing 100 Hz. Now, ASRock is joining the fray with its new display, the CL25FF, which, unlike Asus, is primarily marketed as a gaming monitor featuring a 100 Hz refresh rate.
This latest addition to ASRock’s Challenger series boasts an IPS panel, aligning with the aforementioned resolution and refresh rate. Promising 99 percent sRGB color coverage, a typical brightness of 300 cd/m², 8-bit color depth, a rapid 4 ms response time (gray to gray), and an impressive contrast ratio of 1300:1.
However, the CL25FF’s connectivity options are rather limited, featuring only HDMI 1.4 and VGA ports. Similarly, its ergonomic features are basic, offering tilt adjustment, VESA mounting compatibility (100 x 100 mm), blue light filtering, and flicker-free backlighting.
One notable feature is the implementation of FreeSync functionality for tear-free gaming experiences. It remains unclear whether this includes LFC (“Low Frame Rate Compensation”), a detail ASRock has not explicitly clarified. We speculate on the absence of LFC, as ASRock would likely emphasize such a premium feature. In terms of power consumption, the new ASRock Challenger monitor operates at 18 watts and weighs 2.96 kg without the stand.
