The Sony Xperia 1 VI was initially available in white, black, and dark green. However, a red version, previously leaked before its launch, was officially revealed today. Sony describes the “Scarlet” color as shifting between orange and dark red, depending on the lighting, with a matte finish on the glass back.

Aside from the new color, the Xperia 1 VI remains unchanged. It features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor and a 6.5-inch LTPO OLED display with a 2,340 x 1,080 pixel resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. The 5,000 mAh battery supports 30W charging via USB-C or 15W wireless charging. The Xperia 1 VI is IP68 certified, making it waterproof.

The standout feature of the Xperia 1 VI is its periscope telephoto camera, which includes a 12 MP sensor (1/3.5-inch) and a zoom lens with a focal length range of 85-170mm (35mm equivalent). The phone also includes a 12 MP f/2.2 ultra-wide camera (1/2.5-inch sensor), a 48 MP f/1.9 main camera (1/1.35-inch sensor) with optical image stabilization (OIS), and a 12 MP f/2.0 selfie camera (1/2.9-inch sensor).

Sony Xperia 1 VI Scarlet price and release date

The Sony Xperia 1 VI in “Scarlet” is available exclusively with 512 GB of storage. You can pre-order the new flagship on Amazon.com for $1,399 or Amazon.co.uk for £1,209.99.

At launch, the Sony Xperia 1 VI only supported Wi-Fi 6E. However, Sony has now released an update that upgrades the flagship device to Wi-Fi 7. To experience the faster speeds, improved stability, and reduced latency of Wi-Fi 7, the Xperia 1 VI must be connected to a compatible Wi-Fi 7 router.

Sony is gradually rolling out this update in waves, so it may take a few days for all Xperia 1 VI users to access Wi-Fi 7. The Xperia 1 VI is also set to receive three major Android updates and four years of security patches.

I recently reviewed the Sony Xperia 10 VI and found it to be impressive. It’s lightweight, offers excellent battery life, and performs well for everyday tasks. The camera is also solid, especially for a mid-range phone. If you’re seeking a reliable and affordable option, it’s definitely worth considering. You can find more details here.
