Xiaomi Redmi S2 With 5.99-inch HD+ 18:9 Display, Android 8.1, Dual Rear Camera Launched

After leaking in Tenaa images, and hands-on video, the Xiaomi Redmi S2 has been officially launched in China. It is mid-budget handset comes with a 5.99-inch 18:9 display, 3GB RAM, Dual Rear Cameras, fingerprint sensor and Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box from the Xiaomi being launched today.

Xiaomi Redmi S2 Price and Availability

The Xiaomi Redmi S2 price in China starts from CNY 999 – approximately $156 for the 3GB RAM with 32GB storage version and the 32GB storage with 4GB RAM version costs CNY 1,299 – approximately $204. It will go on sale on at 10 am CST on May 17 on Suning.com. The handset comes in Champagne Gold, Platinum Silver, and Rose Gold color options.

The Xiaomi Redmi S2 features a 5.99-inch 2.5D curved glass display with HD+ (1440 x 720 pixels) resolution, 18:9 aspect ratio and 70.8% NTSC Color Gamut, 1000:1 contrast ratio, and 450 nits brightness, The device has a metal unibody design and it is powered by a 2GHz octa-core processor which supported by Snapdragon 625 14nm Mobile Platform with Adreno 506 GPU and 3GB RAM with 32GB storage / 4GB RAM with 64GB of inbuilt storage which can be expanded via microSD card up to 256GB.

On the camera front, the Redmi S2 flaunts a dual rear camera setup, with the primary camera sporting a 12-megapixel sensor and the secondary camera sporting a 5-megapixel camera. The company is touting a f/2.2 aperture, PDAF autofocus, and LED, apart from an AI Portrait Mode, HDR, and facial recognition. For selfie, it has a 16-megapixel sensor with 2-microns pixels, combining four pixels into one single, oversized pixel. The front camera offers AI Portrait Mode, AI Smart Beauty, Front HDR, and Face Unlock with face recognition.

The Xiaomi Redmi S2 also has a rear fingerprint sensor and runs on Android Android 8.1 Oreo-based on MIUI 9 out of the box. It packs a 3080mAh battery and supports dual SIM slot with dual standby.
