Sony launches URX-P41D Dual-channel Wireless Receiver

Sony has released the URX-P41D, a dual-channel camera-mount wireless receiver that delivers high-quality sound yet is easy to use and quick to set up without diving into menus.

Sony URX-P41D Wireless Receiver

The new Sony wireless receiver is made with simplicity in mind for videographers, vloggers, and journalists working in the field without a film crew. The wireless audio receiver is packed with professional features, including one-button NFC channel auto-tuning and auto-gain functions that perform time-consuming frequency tuning and microphone level adjustment.

The URX-P41D offers digital signal processing for clear sound and UHF analog transmission with true diversity reception for reliability even in difficult shooting conditions. It features a lightweight, low-profile design for enhanced portability with compact camcorders and small DSLR/mirrorless cameras.

The device has two antennas – these are two antenna units and a signal detection circuit with the highest signal-to-noise ratio. This is a common practice in expensive radio systems, but competitors’ on-camera radio systems are more likely to have a single antenna. The receiver has a dedicated headphone output for audio monitoring while recording. The line output level is set in the receiver settings. That is especially useful if the connection is to a DSLR.

The URX-P41D has a rugged, all-metal construction well suited for harsh environments. Two AA batteries (alkaline or rechargeable NiMH) power the URX-P41D for up to 4.5 hours.

Last month, Sony introduced the FE PZ 16-35mm f4 G wide angle lens with power zoom for its mirrorless full-frame cameras, which cover the most popular wide-angle range. The wide lens is extremely compact and light (353 g) and should be aimed more at filmmakers than photographers because it is designed as a motor zoom, which is why the lens name has the abbreviation “PZ” for Power Zoom indicates. It is also available to pre-order on Bhphotovideo.com, Adorama.com, and Amazon.com for $1,198.
