With the Beoplay EX, Bang & Olufsen has introduced comparatively light wireless earphones with mic, some of which are made of aluminum and glass. With adaptive noise cancellation, larger drivers, waterproof housing, and wireless charging, the Bluetooth earphones should leave nothing to be desired.
Bang & Olufsen presented brand new, completely wireless waterproof earbuds, which, unlike the manufacturer’s previous TWS, have a “handle”, as known from the Apple AirPods Pro (approx. $197 on Amazon). It not only makes the earphones themselves slimmer compared to the Beoplay EQ but also two grams lighter – one earphone weighs only 6 grams.
An IP57 certification promises protection from rain and sweat. The Beoplay EX relies on neodymium drivers with a diameter of 9.2 millimeters. According to B&O, the large drivers ensure a richer bass and a more powerful sound, whereby the sound can be adjusted using an equalizer in the associated app. The connection to the smartphone is via Bluetooth 5.2, which supports the qualitatively better Qualcomm aptX Adaptive Codec in addition to SBC and AAC.
A total of six microphones are available for calling. The housing of the device has a glass surface and an aluminum ring on the outside, which are finished in a contrasting color. The charging case is also largely made of aluminum and can be charged either via USB-C or wirelessly. The earbuds’ battery lasts six hours with active noise cancellation (ANC) or eight hours without ANC, and the charging case stores enough energy for a full charge and a half.

The Bang & Olufsen Beoplay EX wireless earphones with mic can be purchased from the Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk websites at $399 / £349. This means that the list price is the same as the similarly equipped Beoplay EQ, which is also available from the Amazon store.
