Netgear Unveils World’s First Quad-Band Wi-Fi 6E Mesh System

Netgear announced the Orbi Quad-band WiFi 6E Mesh system (RBKE963) for large-area wireless networks. The WiFi 6E router is claimed to be the world’s first quad-band mesh networking solution. Two bands are involved in the 5 GHz band, as well as one band each in the 2.4 and 6 GHz bands. The platform provides the highest throughput.

The NetGear WiFi 6E Mesh System kit includes the main router and two satellites. The router is equipped with a quad-core processor with a clock speed of up to 2.2 GHz, 1 GB of RAM, and 512 MB of flash memory. There are one 10Gb Ethernet WAN and 2.5Gb Ethernet LAN ports each, as well as three 1Gb Ethernet LAN connectors. The satellites have a set of network interfaces including one 2.5Gb Ethernet LAN port and three 1Gb Ethernet LAN ports.

The data transfer rate in the 2.4 GHz band reaches 1200 Mbps, in each of the 5 GHz bands – 2400 Mbps, in the 6 GHz band – 4800 Mbps. The total coverage area reaches 840 m2. The companion Orbi App is used for mesh setup and remote control.
