After the availability of the Nokton 21mm F1.4 Aspherical lens for Leica M, Voigtlander has now made available the Nokton 35mm F1.2 Aspherical III lens, designed for rangefinder cameras using the Leica M mount.
The new lens has replaced the Nokton 35mm F1.2 Aspherical II lens, which was appeared in 2003 as “the fastest 35mm lens in the world”, with the shortest shooting distance of 50 cm.
A characteristic feature of the model with index III is that the lens body has been reduced while maintaining technical and optical characteristics. The optical design, having inherited the basic configuration of the previous model, consists of 12 aperture diaphragms, 9 elements in 7 groups (including two dual-sided aspherical lenses), it was reduced in total length by about 20% and in weight by about 30% (to 322 g) using the latest glass elements and design methods. The maximum diameter of the lens is 60.8 mm and the filter diameter is 52 mm. The LH-8 lens hood is still sold separately.
