Cosina has announced that the Voigtlander Nokton 28mm f1.5 lens, introduced for the Sony E-mount in December, is now also available for Nikon Z mirrorless cameras. B&H Photo sells the E-mount version for $799, while the new Z-mount version costs $100 more.

The lens features a 12-blade aperture and an advanced optical design. Its basic design is identical to that announced for the Sony E-mount. The full-frame Nokton 28mm f1.5 lens consists of 10 elements arranged in 8 groups. The lens includes two aspherical elements with four aspherical surfaces and a pair of anomalous partially dispersive glass elements. This optical design should provide a combination of high-resolution and well-controlled aberrations.
The aperture range of the optics is from F/1.5 to F/16. The aperture is adjusted manually using a ring with clicks. Thus, this optics is more suitable for photography. It is separately emphasized that the 12-blade diaphragm provides a beautiful round bokeh, the manufacturer reports.
As with other Voigtlander optics, the Nokton 28mm f1.5 Aspherical is a manual focus-only lens, but it communicates with the attached Nikon Z-mount camera via electronic contacts.
Cosina claims that the electronic contacts allow the camera to record EXIF information, work in tandem with any built-in image stabilization system (matrix or electronic), make it compatible with the latest firmware, and allow focusing with peaking, a magnification button, and changing the color of the focus point frame. The Nokton 28mm f1.5 Aspherical can focus as close as 28 centimeters.
