The Austrian company Voigtlander has announced the new Nokton 21mm f/1.4 Aspherical lens. This is a wide-angle fast focus Voigtlander lens with manual focus, designed for Leica cameras with Leica M mount like recently announced Leica M10 with a 40MP sensor.
This Voigtlander lens was officially introduced back in January 2020, but now it is officially available to pre-order in the US. In the optical formula of the lens, there are 13 elements in 11 groups and 12 diaphragm blades. The minimum focusing distance is 0.5 m and fast f/1.4 maximum aperture benefits working in low-light conditions.
Three abnormal partial dispersion elements are featured in the optical design and help to minimize color fringing and chromatic aberrations. A floating elements system maintains consistent image quality throughout the focusing range to suit working with both distant and close-up subjects. A manual focus design permits a minimum focusing distance of 1.6′ when used with a rangefinder camera, however, the lens has coupled focusing from 2.3′ to infinity.
