Voigtlander Color-Skopar 35mm F3.5 Aspherical VM Lens Pre-Order Now!

Cosina has released a new Voigtlander Color-Skopar 35mm F3.5 Aspherical lens for Leica M rangefinder cameras. It has a compact (14 mm) and lightweight body weighing 99 grams. The optical design includes a double-sided aspherical glass element and three elements with anomalous partial dispersion. The manufacturer claims that the optics allow for “clean, sharp Leica M street photography.” With the help of an adapter, the lens can be mounted on almost any modern camera.

The new lens from the Voigtlander brand is traditionally equipped with a solid metal helicoid block for “precise focus control.” The focusing block has high-quality lubrication to ensure optimal torque. Thus, the company claims reliable and smooth focusing in all scenarios of working with optics.

The Voigtlander Color-Skopar 35mm F3.5 Aspherical lens has a brass body and comes in two color options: silver and black. Black paint covers the entire surface; the focus holds the button and the focus lever. Cosina reports that the lens barrel features a prominent focus lever for easy adjustment.

Cosina adds that the body has markings indicating the focus transition to infinity and the closest focusing distance. The lens comes with a metal lens hood in a matching color.

To prevent the overall length from increasing when used with a lens hood, a specially made thin frame filter measuring just 1.1 millimeters from the lens filter thread is also included,” adds Cosina. The lens hood is then screwed onto this filter.

The compact, lightweight Voigtlander Color-Skopar 35mm F3.5 Aspherical lens features an optical design of six elements in four groups, including one double-sided aspherical glass element and three elements with anomalous partial dispersion.

Voigtlander Color-Skopar 35mm F3.5 Aspherical VM Price and Release Date

The Voigtlander Color-Skopar 35mm F3.5 Aspherical VM lens is now available for pre-order on B&H Photo for $599.

The Voigtlander Color-Skopar 35mm f3.5 weighs just 99 grams, making it one of the market’s lightest 35mm prime lenses. It is also impressively small, measuring 14 millimeters from the mount to the front surface. The lens has a front filter thread for a 34mm filter.

The lens covers a full-frame image circle, and since it’s a VM mount lens, it’s easily adaptable to a wide range of modern mirrorless cameras. Cosina notes that its ” well-balanced design ” makes the lens an excellent match for mirrorless cameras with a mount adapter.

The new 35mm lens for street photography from Cosina not only features a high-precision rangefinder mechanism but also can focus as close as 0.7 meters. Moreover, it has a 10-blade aperture, enhancing its performance for creative photography.

Voigtlander released the APO-Ultron 90mm F2 for Leica M at the end of last year. The company claims the optics provide excellent optical characteristics and “zero” chromatic aberrations. The lens weighs 340 grams and costs about $780.
