Cosina recently announced the release of the new Voigtlander 35mm F2 Macro APO-Ultron lens for Fujifilm X-mount cameras (APS-C cameras), which is now in stock at various online stores.
It is a compact and lightweight lens with a manual focusing system in a rugged all-metal body with electronic contacts for transmitting lens data in EXIF.
The manufacturer claims that the optical design of this lens is optimized for use with APS-C sensors and directly with Fujifilm X-series mirrorless cameras.
The optical design consists of 9 elements in 6 groups, including three low-dispersion glass elements. In addition, there is a multi-layer anti-reflective coating to increase light transmission and reduce glare/ghosting. The lens is reported to effectively suppress axial chromatic aberration and magnification chromatic aberration, thereby achieving high definition and accurate color reproduction.
The aperture is ten-bladed, and its range is from F/2 to F/22 in 1/3 EV increments. All lens adjustments are made manually using a ring. The minimum focusing distance of the Voigtlander 35mm F/2 Macro APO-Ultron is 0.16m, at which a 1:2 magnification is achieved.
To make manual focusing smoother and more accurate, the lens is reportedly fine-tuned by the manufacturer’s mechanism using high-quality lubricants.
