The Voigtlander Ultron with a wide angle focal length of 28 mm, developed and produced by the Japanese manufacturer Cosina, has been revised to enable a more compact version and a lower weight. The latest Voigtlander 28mm f2.0 Ultron Vintage Aspherical VM lens will be available in two Type I and Type II design variants.
The frame of the lighter variants of Type I Aspheric lens is two-colored designed in chrome and matt black, and equipped with a small focusing lever, which is primarily intended to appeal to fans of a very classic look.
The Type II frames are monochrome in black or silver. They are equipped with a recessed grip, which should enable faster and more intuitive focusing. The optical structure and the mechanics for the focusing and the aperture are each identical. The structure consists of 10 elements in 7 groups, one of which has an aspherical surface. The 10 aperture blades should ensure an extremely appealing and smooth bokeh.
According to Voigtlander, the sharpness performance has been improved compared to its predecessor. In addition, an adaptation to the requirements of modern image sensors should have been made.
With a weight of 190 g (Type I) or 230 g (Type II), the new Voigtlander 28mm f2.0 Ultron Vintage Aspherical VM is seen as a pleasant companion when looking for that special moment. The lens is designed for cameras with a Leica M-system, but can also be used on Fujifilm X cameras, Sony E, and Nikon Z models with the appropriate adapters.
Two lens hoods are available as optional accessories, the LH-4N in a circular shape and the LH-12 in a rectangular design. The latter allows a slightly better stray light shielding due to the given depth.
