The Vivo X200 Pro is now surpassing the Vivo X100 Ultra, which was launched only a few months ago. At its recent launch event, Vivo made it clear that the “Pro” model is now better than the “Ultra,” especially in terms of camera performance. This new flagship, launching in China, is packed with cutting-edge features, including an advanced camera system and the powerful Dimensity 9400 chipset.
Dimensity 9400 and Enhanced Performance
The Vivo X200 Pro is one of the first smartphones to feature the new Dimensity 9400 chip. Vivo showcased the performance and efficiency improvements of this next-gen MediaTek processor, which was launched just days before the event. The event, streamed on YouTube with live translation, emphasized these upgrades, which provide faster performance while improving battery life.
The higher efficiency of the Dimensity 9400 isn’t the only reason for better battery life. The Vivo X200 Pro also includes a larger 6,000 mAh battery, which takes up less space than the 5,400 mAh battery in the Vivo X100 Pro. Remarkably, it can deliver nearly full performance even in extreme conditions like -20°C. Additionally, optimizations in OriginOS 5 contribute to even more energy savings.
Camera Innovations: Setting New Standards
One of the standout features of the Vivo X200 Pro is its camera. Vivo claims that the camera surpasses even the Vivo X100 Ultra, which was launched earlier this year. The X200 Pro boasts a new 1/1.28 inch Sony LYT-818 sensor combined with a large F/1.57 aperture, which rivals the photo quality of the 1-inch IMX989 sensor in the Vivo X100 Pro. However, the X200 Pro excels in video capabilities and energy efficiency, thanks to its 22nm production process.
For the first time in an Android smartphone, the Vivo X200 Pro supports Dolby Vision recording and editing in 4K60 (via CapCut), alongside a new 4K120 slow-motion mode for the main camera and telephoto lens.
200 Megapixel Telephoto Lens
The big news is the 200-megapixel telephoto lens, featuring an F/2.67 aperture, based on the ISOCELL HP9 sensor that first appeared in the Vivo X100 Ultra. AI zoom algorithms have been improved, allowing for better shots of distant objects. The lens also offers enhanced video performance, especially in backlit conditions and HDR.
In addition, the X200 Pro supports 135mm portrait shots and 10-bit LOG recording across all focal lengths. The Zeiss Vario APO Sonnar periscope lens has also been improved, offering faster and more accurate focus.
Ultra-Wide and Front Cameras
In addition to the powerful telephoto lens, the Vivo X200 Pro includes a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with an F/2.0 aperture, as well as a 32-megapixel front camera with the same aperture. These features enhance versatility in photography, ensuring high-quality shots in a variety of settings.
Display and Battery Features
The Vivo X200 Pro features a stunning 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2,800 x 1,260 pixels. The display is quadruple-curved and has ultra-thin 1.63 mm edges on all sides. It boasts impressive specs, including a peak brightness of 4,500 nits and a refresh rate ranging from 0.1 to 120 Hz. Additionally, it is designed to be easy on the eyes, thanks to 2,160 Hz full brightness PWM dimming.
The device is powered by a 6,000 mAh battery that supports 90-watt fast charging and wireless charging at up to 30 watts.
Vivo X200 Pro price and release date
The Vivo X200 Pro can be pre-ordered through Giztop and will be widely available from October 20th. The base model, with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, starts at $899. The top-tier variant, featuring 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage, costs $1,099. A middle option with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage is available for $999.
The Vivo X200 Pro comes in several color options, including dark blue, black, white, and titanium (gray). Additionally, a 1 TB satellite version is available. The Chinese model supports LTE band 20, and a global version is expected to follow soon.
