Viltrox Technology has expanded its Epic PL anamorphic lens lineup with the introduction of two new lenses: the Viltrox Epic 65mm T2.8 Macro 1.33X and the Epic 135mm T2.4 1.33X. This brings the Epic lineup, launched in 2022, to seven lenses, covering anamorphic compression shooting in focal lengths ranging from 25mm to 135mm.

According to Viltrox, the new cine lenses are designed for those who demand expression, consistency, and optical precision in every frame. Whether you’re capturing the intricate details of a moth’s wing or isolating your subject in a busy street scene, these lenses offer a cinematic look that’s both intimate and grand.
Viltrox Epic 65mm T2.8 Macro 1.33X
The 65mm T2.8 Macro is a bold step into new territory for anamorphic cinematography. Macro and anamorphic photography existed in different worlds, with the former valuing precision and the latter artistic imperfection, and Viltrox managed to unite the two.
A groundbreaking addition to the Viltrox Epic series, the Epic 65mm T2.8 Macro 1.33X PL pushes the boundaries of wide-screen storytelling through macro photography. Its revolutionary optical design transforms the micro world into a professional, cinematic, wide-screen image. The 65mm focal length facilitates visual storytelling, from extreme close-ups to wide shots, capturing exquisite micro detail while maintaining the soft, painterly quality of the frame.

With a magnification of 1:4, edge-to-edge sharpness, and smooth focus control, the lens transforms microscopic objects into wide-screen images. Dust motes, textures, and fleeting movements come alive with creamy bokeh at T2.8 and the Epic’s signature painterly depth. Subdued focus breathing and a 290° focus ring rotation make it easy to focus on fast-moving macro subjects.
But the Epic 65mm T2.8 Macro impresses not only with its optical performance but also with its flexibility and professional integration capabilities. PL anamorphic lens works with full-frame sensors, offers a light transmission range from T2.8 to T22, and delivers classic anamorphic performance with a magnification of 1.33x and signature tone-on-tone effects in a cinematic 2.35:1 aspect ratio.
The focus ring features a standard 0.8 MOD pitch, an aperture ring with the same front diameter of 95 mm as other lenses in the series, and focus marks, making it ideal for pairing with standard cinema accessories. The unified parameters of all Epic optics make it easy to change lenses without recalibrating the gimbal. With its beautiful oval bokeh, thanks to Viltrox technology, and precise focusing, the 65mm lens enables filmmakers to capture dramatic macro details with a distinctive anamorphic effect.
The new Viltrox Epic PL anamorphic lens is now available on B&H Photo for $3,999, positioning it in line with more expensive, similar options on the market.
Viltrox Epic 135mm T2.4 1.33X
The 135mm telescopic lens creates an immersive experience. Its reach and spatial compression deliver unrivaled subject isolation, enhancing the emotional depth and visual drama. The T2.4 aperture maintains light output without sacrificing detail or color accuracy, rendering faces and textures with organic warmth and exceptional clarity.

The Epic 135mm T2.4 1.33X PL extends the focal length range of the Viltrox Epic line of cinema lenses, capturing the essence of long-focus storytelling with cinematic depth and immersion. With its distinctive spatial compression, the 135mm lens separates the subject from the distracting background, delivering impressive visual depth and a highly impactful image. With a magnification ratio of 1:4 and exceptional edge-to-edge sharpness at close focusing distances, this lens can create the intricate textures of insect wings and even capture the subtle movement of floating dust.
The Epic 135mm T2.4 1.33X PL is designed for impressive visual effects. It works with full-frame sensors and with a light transmission range from T2.4 to T22, providing great depth of field and flexibility of use even in low-light conditions. All external features are identical to those of all Epic series optics.
It is also available for purchase on B&H Photo at $3,999.
The Epic series now covers focal lengths from 25mm to 135mm, offering an anamorphic effect for virtually any visual style. With identical lens settings and nearly identical lens weights, the series can be easily swapped on set without re-adjusting the equipment, maintaining color fidelity, and using three different flare styles to create visual effects. The Epic series also features a nice Moonlight White design.
