Viltrox Jueying Technology explored market demand for its AF 28mm F4.5 ‘Chip’ lens through an Indiegogo campaign, and the lens is now officially available.
The AF 28mm F4.5 is Viltrox’s lightest and slimmest lens to date, earning the nickname ‘Chip’ for its featherlight feel, similar to a potato chip. It’s attractively priced at under $100.
Weighing just 60 grams and extending less than 1 cm above the bayonet mount, this compact “pancake” lens delivers quality optics. Its design incorporates six elements, including four specialized ones—two ED (Extra-low Dispersion) and two aspherical elements—to minimize distortion and enhance image quality.
Though compact, this lens is built for full-frame cameras. It excels in both portrait photography with shallow depth of field and wide-angle street shots, offering outstanding image quality and dynamic compositions in a portable design.
Designed for full-frame cameras, the lens is ideal for travel, hiking, and video blogging. Its fixed f/4.5 aperture and 32 cm minimum focusing distance offer a maximum magnification of 0.11x. Autofocus is powered by a voice coil motor (VCM) for precise performance.
