Asus unveiled its latest Chromebook, the Chromebook Vibe CX34 Flip, at CES 2023. This new device is a gaming-ready notebook that boasts a responsive monitor and the latest hardware components.
One of the standout features of the Chromebook CX34 Flip is its ability to function as both a gaming notebook and a Chromebook. This seemingly contradictory capability is made possible through the use of streaming services for video games, allowing access to over 1,400 games via cloud gaming platforms.
Chrome OS is not designed for native, local display of video games. While the performance of the Asus Chromebook Vibe CX34 itself does contribute to the quality of the gaming experience, it is largely dependent on the latency and data transfer rate of the internet connection. To ensure high-performance connectivity, the device is equipped with a WiFi 6E module.
According to the manufacturer, the new Asus Flip Chromebook comes with a 12th-generation Intel Core i7 processor and up to 16 GB of RAM. A maximum of 512 GB PCIe-SSD is used, so the data transfer should be particularly fast. Asus specifies the battery life as 10 hours.
The Asus Chromebook Vibe CX34 Flip features a 144 Hz display with WUXGA resolution, offering 1,920 x 1,200 pixels. The response time is listed as 9 milliseconds. The device also includes an input pen that can be stored in the housing. Asus claims that the screen-to-body ratio is 83 percent. The display can be positioned completely behind the keyboard thanks to the 360° ErgoLift hinge.
The keyboard of the Asus Chromebook Vibe CX34 Flip features an anti-ghosting function and is equipped with RGB lighting that can be configured in four zones. The WASD keys are orange, and the device’s robust case is MIL-STD-810 certified. Additionally, it includes a Harmon Kardon-certified audio system.
