Vazen unveils 65mm T2 1.8x Anamorphic Lens for Micro Four Thirds

Vazen step by step implements his plan to create a line of anamorphic lenses for Micro Four Thirds mount. In the spring of 2020, we wrote about the Vazen 28mm T2.2 1.8x anamorphic lens, and recently they also announced 85mm T2.8 1.8X. And now we have the Vazen 65mm T2 1.8x using the MFT mount. They will be able to assemble a full line of anamorphic optics and close focal lengths from wide-angle to a moderate telephoto.

Vazen 65mm T2 1.8x Anamorphic Lens for Micro Four Thirds

All three Vazen 1.8x lenses share a similar anamorphic front design, yet all provide oval bokeh, characteristic horizontal blue flare, and good edge-to-edge sharpness. The Vazen 1.8x line is designed specifically for 4:3 matrixes, such as those found in the Panasonic GH5, Z-CAM E2, and the same is installed in the new Panasonic BGH1 camera. The lens is also suitable for use with Blackmagic Pocket 4K movie cameras.

To work in conjunction with Micro Four Thirds, the 1.8x anamorphic lens is much more convenient than 1.33x or 1.5x lenses, as its characteristics are enough to cover the 2.39: 1 aspect ratio. The lens has a thread for installing an 86 mm light filter, aperture, and focus rings are equipped with gear rings according to the 0.8 standards.

Despite the rugged design, the lens is relatively compact and lightweight. It was designed with the finest mechanical functionality to allow cinematographers to film with ease. The 95mm front diameter allows usage with a standard matte box and the independent aperture and focus rings are built with 0.8mod cine gears. The focus throw is 300°.

Price and availability

New Vazen Anamorphic is now available to purchase on the online website for $3250 with three years of manufacturer’s warranty.
