A new variant of Asus’ TUF Gaming A16 was announced at CES 2024. A16 gaming laptop features a 16-inch 165Hz display (FHD/QHD), a 90Wh battery, and up to 32GB of RAM.
Last year, the Asus TUF Gaming A16 was built entirely by AMD, with a Ryzen 7000 CPU and a Radeon RX 7600S GPU. This time, Asus has opted for Nvidia hardware, which is understandable given Ada Lovelace’s performance under limited power conditions. The new Asus TUF Gaming A16 replaces the somewhat power-limited HS CPU with a more powerful HX version.
It uses an AMD Ryzen 9 7845HX processor, one of the best laptop CPUs of the last generation, and pairs it with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 (140W). The system supports up to 32GB of DDR5 5,200 memory and 2TB of PCIe Gen4 storage. Interestingly, Asus does not include a USB 4.0 port on the laptop and instead uses two USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C ports. The remaining I/Os are as follows: two USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A ports, an HDMI 2.1 port, a combo audio jack, and gigabit Ethernet.
The Asus TUF A16 gaming laptop’s display is identical to that of the TUF Gaming F16. Its 16-inch panel is available in two versions: FHD (1,920 x 1,080) and QHD (2,560 x 1,440). Both versions feature a 165Hz refresh rate and a 3ms response time. Other specifications include Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, and a 90Wh battery.

The Asus TUF Gaming A16 2024 is now available at Amazon.com for $1,454.96, down from $1,799.99. Specifically, this price applies to the QHD+ 165Hz display model with an AMD Ryzen 9 7940HX, RTX 4070, 16GB DDR5 RAM, and a 1TB PCIe Gen4 SSD. Meanwhile, on Newegg.com, you can purchase the same model for $1,789.
