Tokina has introduced two new cinema lenses to complement its existing Vista-P series: the 21mm T1.5 and 29mm T1.5. The Tokina Cinema Vista-P series now includes 11 lenses that support the highest resolution and aperture and have a vintage look. The Tokina lens lineup is based on the premium Vista Primes series, which is used in big-budget series such as Ted Lasso and Loki.

The factory adjusts the new Tokina Cinema Vista-P series lenses, which deliver a vintage look with spherical distortion while maintaining sharpness at the center of the frame.
The initial set of Tokina Cinema Vista-P lenses included 18, 25, 35, 50, and 85mm focal lengths, all with a maximum aperture of T1.5. The company later added 40, 65, 105, and 135mm lenses with T1.5.
The main feature of the Tokina Vista-P series is its vintage look. With a sharp center and swirl-like distortion at the edges of the frame, it produces an image reminiscent of optics such as the Helios-44 or Petzval.
The new Tokina lens lineup in the series (like those released previously) covers full-frame VistaVision-sized image sensors (46.7 mm image circles) and has an outer diameter of 114 mm. The lens supports Sony E, EF, PL, LPL, and MFT bayonet mounts.
Reports suggest that the company may convert Vista Prime optics into the Vista-P series at its Tokyo plant. However, this is irreversible.

With two new wide-angle cinema primes, the Tokina Cinema Vista-P series offers a complete range of lenses with focal lengths from 18mm to 135mm. The 21mm and 29mm can handle today’s high-end sensors like the other lenses.
Tokina explains that the distortion is more pronounced when mounting the optics on VistaVision and full-frame cinema cameras while using S35 cameras will reduce the effect of the signature distortion.
