Thypoch has quickly established itself in the market. The manufacturer produced manual optics for the Leica M-mount, including the Simera 28mm F1.4 and 35mm F1.4, known for their high-quality performance and artistic design. Thypoch has released a new lens: the Simera 50mm F1.4 ASPH. This lens is designed for full-frame cameras and features manual focus, a short minimum shooting distance, and a 14-blade aperture.
The lens features a shorter minimum focusing distance than other optics designed for rangefinder cameras. The new Thypoch lens has a minimum focusing distance of just 0.45 meters, while competitors typically have a limitation of 0.7 to 0.9 meters.
The new Simera 50mm F1.4 lens builds on the design and optical characteristics of the previously released 28mm and 35mm f/1.4 lenses. It delivers “superb” image quality with its eight-element, six-group design.
The design includes one extra-low dispersion (ED) element and three high refractive index (HRI) elements, “delivering sharp and clear images even at wide apertures and across the frame,” the company says.
The lens also features a floating element, ensuring high performance at close focusing distances.
The new lens features a 14-blade aperture that produces circular bokeh. Thypoch claims that the fast aperture allows for “smooth focus shifts that create a three-dimensional, cinematic visual experience.”
The manual aperture ring can be switched between pressed and released modes, which provides convenient use for both photo and video shooting. Additionally, each lens in the Thypoch Simera line features the same f/1.4-16 aperture range, a 49mm filter thread, and a 14-bladed diaphragm.
Price and release date
The new Thypoch Simera 50mm F1.4 manual focus lens costs $749 and is available for pre-order on Bhphotovideo.com and Adorama.com. Deliveries will begin at the end of September. Additionally, the lens comes in two finishes—silver and black—and includes the brand’s stylish square lens hood. However, it is currently only announced for the Leica M-mount.
Earlier this month, Leica introduced the M11-D – a digital rangefinder camera that does not have a display. Leica charges a lot for the camera with a rangefinder, 60 MP sensor, and Wi-Fi. It is all ready for pre-order at the Bhphotovideo store for $9,395.
