The Thypoch Simera 28mm f1.4 Type II and 35mm f1.4 ASPH Type II manual lenses have been released with a de-clickable aperture ring and a focus tab. According to the manufacturer, this should provide more convenient control, including with one finger. The peculiarity of the Simera series lenses is the combination of retro aesthetics and modern optical design. These new versions are compatible with Leica M, Nikon Z, Fujifilm X, and Canon RF mounts.

The updated lenses feature a mechanism that allows smooth focusing with one finger. Thypoch calls this method “more ergonomic .” This is the only difference between the Thypoch Simera Type II optics and the original versions, which were released in October 2023.
However, the Thypoch brand has gained some popularity in its short existence. Speaking specifically about the Thypoch Simera series, these lenses with a Leica M mount provide high image quality at a much lower price than Leica-branded optics.
Thanks to the focus tongue, the lenses closely replicate the latest Leica Summilux 28mm and 35mm lenses, providing precise control and optical quality,” Thypoch writes in the release text.
- Type I (Infinity-Lock Version): Increases stability by preventing the lens from rotating during installation, ensuring safe handling.
- Type II (Focus Tab Version): Ergonomically designed for a comfortable grip, allowing smooth one-finger focusing for trouble-free operation.
The Thypoch Simera 28mm F1.4 Type II lens features a slightly improved rear design, which is somewhat thinner than the Type I, giving it a more streamlined and straight look.
