The TCL Q6C is a new mini-LED smart TV that goes on sale. It offers a refresh rate of 144 Hz at full 4K resolution, hundreds of dimming zones, and a peak brightness of 1,000 nits at a relatively affordable price starting at £679.
The Q6C is TCL’s new entry into mini-LED smart TVs. This Google TV with Dolby Atmos also features a mini-LED backlight with 180 to 512 dimming zones, depending on the screen size. This allows it to achieve deeper blacks and a higher contrast ratio. Due to the fewer dimming zones compared to more expensive models, halo effects are likely to be at least somewhat noticeable.
In addition to its higher contrast ratio of 5,000:1, the mini-LEDs enable better peak brightness, with TCL explicitly stating that it can reach up to 1,000 nits. The smart TV supports Dolby Vision IQ HDR content and automatically adjusts screen brightness to ambient light, even when HDR is enabled. With a refresh rate of 144 Hz at native 4K resolution and support for HDMI VRR, AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, and Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM), the TCL Q6C is a great option. It provides smooth performance, making it ideal for gaming enthusiasts.
HDMI 2.1 allows seamless connection between modern consoles like the Xbox Series X or Sony PlayStation 5. TCL incorporates a 2.1 sound system tuned by Onkyo, supporting Dolby Atmos. It also features an AI processor designed to improve contrast, motion sharpness, and HDR. All relevant streaming apps are available via Google TV.
