Tamron 90mm f2.8 Di III Macro Gets 12-Blade Aperture for Stunning Bokeh!

Tamron has introduced a new macro lens, which is also suitable for portrait photography — Tamron 90mm F2.8 Di III VXD Macro. The external design of the lens is in the traditional Tamron style: a black minimalist body, a focus mode switch, and a wide focus control ring.

The new Tamron Macro lens, designed for mirrorless cameras (full-frame and APS-C), delivers superb sharpness from center to edge and a velvety bokeh effect.

According to the press release, Tamron’s first 12-blade aperture creates a perfectly round bokeh with minimal vignetting, especially in macro shots.

The Tamron 90mm F2.8 Di III VXD Macro lens is relatively compact. Its length is 126.5 mm, and its weight is 630 grams. For comparison, the Sony FE 90mm F2.8 Macro G OSS lens is 130.1 mm long and weighs 603 grams. However, it’s important to note that Sony’s lens includes optical stabilization.

The manufacturer reports that the new Tamron Macro lens fits comfortably in the palm and will allow the photographer/cameraman to hold it in their hands for long periods.

The lens has a focus limiter switch that can limit the autofocus range. This feature also helps prevent the lens from searching for focus throughout the entire range if the focus is lost during close-up shooting.

Tamron notes that the focusing ring’s torque has been carefully calibrated for precise manual focusing. The torque is very moderate, allowing for fine-tuning the focus and achieving the desired accuracy.

Tamron’s new proprietary hood design allows you to install and rotate filters (such as variable density filters) without removing the hood itself.
