Tamron has introduced a new 18-200mm F/3.5-6.3 Di II VC lens, replacing 18-200mm F/3.5-6.3 XR Macro lens, which has been its bestseller lenses from past 10 years.
A new Tamron 18-200mm F/3.5-6.3 VC lens with Vibration Compensation technology in which users an take great photos at long distances, at night, and indoors; and avoid camera shake or blurred images. With a focal length range stretches from 18 to 200 mm, this is the lens for APS-C DSLR cameras, 35mm equivalent 28-310mm wide angle on full-frame sensor. The entire body of lenses is made of plastic to reduce the weight of the lens only 400g. Compared with its other competitors such as Canon’s 18-200mm IS weighs 595g (1.31 lb) and Nikon’s 18-200mm VR weighs 560g (1.23 lb), Tamron 18-200mm VC zoom is the lightest lens in the world according the Tamron. A design of the lens is also made to look better, portable and definitely look more rugged.
In terms of optical construction, the lens is constructed of 16 elements in 14 groups. With the lens it comes with the actuating toggle button can help users to be more proactive in controlling image quality. Tamron says this new lens is also equipped with all-new autofocus drive module with optimal DC motor for higher speed and accuracy.
The Tamron 18-200mm F/3.5-6.3 Di II lens with VC mechanism will be available in two versions for Canon and Nikon, priced at $249, and available for purchase from August 20 of this year. While there is a separate version for Sony mount will does not include VC because Sony DSLR bodies incorporate built-in image stabilization and will be launched at a later date.
