Sony unveils TA-AN1000 7.2 AV amplifier with support for 8K, and 360 Spatial Sound Mapping

With the TA-AN1000, Sony offers a new AV amplifier for Sony home theater speakers. This new amplifier offers 7.2 channels, support for two subwoofers, and an innovative feature called “phantom speakers,” which creates a more spatial sound.

The TA-AN1000 home cinema pre amps also come with modern features, such as six HDMI inputs, two of which support 8K resolution and 4K content at 120 frames per second. It also supports HDR10, HLG, and Dolby Vision, making it compatible with the most important HDR formats and PlayStation 5 (approx. $500 / £480 on Amazon).

The gaming experience is also more gripping and realistic. The latest formats, such as e.g. B. the variable refresh rate (VRR) and the automatic low latency mode (ALLM) under HDMI 2.1. This amplifier for Sony home theater speakers has seven amplifiers for a real surround setup and two connections for active subwoofers, and it is compatible with Sony’s wireless speakers and subwoofers. It supports speakers with an impedance between 6 and 16 ohms and weighs 10.3 kilograms.

The 360 Spatial Sound Mapping technology is Sony’s proprietary feature that allows for multiple “phantom speakers” to be distributed throughout the room for an enhanced spatial sound experience. To achieve this, the room is acoustically measured using the calibration microphone included with the amplifier.

The TA-AN1000 amplifier for Sony home theater speakers also supports Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, and music can be streamed wirelessly via Google Chromecast, Apple AirPlay 2, Roon, Spotify Connect, or the Sonos app. It can decode DSD up to 11.2 MHz, as well as FLAC, ALAC, and WAV.

The Sony TA-AN1000 amplifier is available for pre-order on Amazon.co.uk for £999 and will be released on June 14, 2023.
