New SynologyNAS come with eight-bay and two M.2 slots for storage. The bays support 2.5” or 3.5” SATA drives, while the M.2 slots support M.2 2280 NVMe SSDs. Powered by Synology DiskStation Manager (Synology DSM), in addition to JBOD/RAID0/1/5/6/10, Synology Hybrid Raid (SHR) allows users to create arrays using odd-sized drives while still maximizing the storage potential of the array. This enables older drives to be serviceable, without requiring an upfront commitment to only installing drives of the same capacity.

The strengths of the NAS include four Gigabit Ethernet ports with support for aggregation and failover. What’s more, a 10 GbE adapter can be installed in the PCIe 3.0 x8 expansion slot operating in x4 mode. According to the manufacturer, you can count on a sequential read speed of 2300 MB/s and a sequential write speed of 1150 MB/s. The Synology DiskStation storage equipment also includes four USB 3.0 ports and two eSATA ports. Cooling is handled by two 120mm fans. The power of the built-in power supply is 250 W.
