Suunto explicitly aims its new Run smartwatch at runners. It supports local music playback, so you don’t necessarily need to bring your smartphone with you.

It’s no longer a surprise—the Suunto Run is now official. Suunto designed this watch especially for runners, and users can operate it without pairing it with a smartphone. The 36-gram watch has a textile strap and features a GNSS module to record distances precisely.
Running heart monitors can be measured directly on the wrist. The distance, speed, and heart rate can give you a good overview of your performance and training progress. According to the manufacturer, training instructions are available, there’s a marathon mode, and the Ghost Runner mode lets you activate a virtual pacer.
You can record your running activities and choose from 34 available sports modes, such as cycling or strength training. In offline mode, the smartwatch tracks routes using the breadcrumb navigation track function. If you like listening to music while training, you don’t need to carry a smartphone—the smartwatch can store and play MP3 files directly.
As is now common, the Suunto Run comes with various smart functions. Users can configure alarms, access weather updates, and track activity. The device offers a battery life of up to 12 days. You can use the app to monitor your activity level and recovery status.
