Sony unveiled the Xperia 5 III smartphone almost seven months ago. US sales should begin shortly, but for now, the device can be pre-ordered at the Amazon.co.uk website with Free WH-H910N Noise Cancelling Headphones. The Sony Xperia 5 III 5G smartphone costs about £899 and will be released on December 13, 2021.
The Sony Xperia 5 III 5G relies on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC and triple camera, which consists of an ultra-wide-angle camera with a 35mm-equivalent focal length of 16 mm and a 24 mm wide-angle camera and the telephoto camera with variable focal length, which offers either a focal length of 70 mm or 105 mm.
All three cameras have a resolution of 12 MP. The smartphone has Zeiss lenses, but you have to do without a few features from the flagship, especially object tracking via real-time tracking. Even the cheaper model can record 20 photos per second or 4K videos at 120 frames per second. There is a dedicated shutter release on the side of the smartphone.
Camera features include real-time eye AF, burst at up to 20 frames per second with noise reduction, continuous AF / AE calculation 60 times per second, and subject tracking. The camera can record 4K video at 120 frames per second. On the front is an 8MP selfie camera.
The device is equipped with a 6.1-inch OLED display with FullHD resolution with HDR support and an aspect ratio of 21: 9 and supports a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The display is covered with a protective glass Corning Gorilla Glass 6. The smartphone is built based on the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 platform, which is complemented by 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal flash memory. It supports microSD memory cards up to 1 TB.
Sony Xperia 5 III buyers get a 3.5mm audio jack, a set of stereo speakers, and Dolby Atmos support. The smartphone has a 4500 mAh battery, which charges up to 50% in 30 minutes using a 30-watt adapter. The smartphone is rated IP68.
