Sony Xperia 1 With 6.5-inch 4K OLED HDR Display, Triple rear cameras, 6GB RAM Launched

After leaked in clear image render last week, the Sony Xperia 1 has been officially announced at MWC 2019. It is a high-end device and also the world’s first smartphone with a 6.5-inch 21:9 CinemaWide 4K HDR display which offers bright colors with BRAVIA X1 for mobile. It also packs 6GB RAM, Snapdragon 855 SoC, and Side-mounted Fingerprint sensor.

Sony Xperia 1 Price and Availability

The Sony Xperia 1 price has been set at £799 – approximately $1,045 and will go on sale in late spring in the US and in the coming weeks in Europe. The handset comes in Black, Purple, Grey and White color options.

The Sony Xperia 1 features a 6.5-inch 4K OLED HDR Display with 21:9 aspect ratio, TRILUMINOS Display for mobile, X-Reality for mobile, and protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 6. The device has a Creator mode that uses industry-leading technology to ensure consistent colour reproduction, so movies and TV shows are as the creator intended. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 7nm octa-core processor which supported by Adreno 640 GPU and 6GB of RAM. It packs a 128GB of inbuilt storage which can be expanded via microSD card up to 512GB.

On the camera front, the Xperia 1 bears a triple rear camera setup: a 12-megapixel rear cameras with Exmor RS sensor, 1/2.6″ sensor, f/1.6 aperture, Hybrid OIS/EIS, 1.4μm pixel size, Predictive capture, 12MP f/2.4 aperture 1/3.4″ 1.0μm 135° ultra wide-angle, 12MP f/2.4 aperture 1/3.4″ 1.0μm 45° telephoto lens, Hybrid OIS/EIS, 2x optical zoom, 960 fps Super slow motion. For selfie, there is an 8-megapixel 1/ 4″ Exmor RS sensor with f/2.0 aperture, 1.12μm pixel size, and 84° wide-angle lens.

The camera includes 16mm super wide-angle lens, 26mm normal lens with dual photo diode image sensor and RAW noise reduction and a 52mm lens for portrait and 2x optical zoom. It is also the world’s first smartphone with Eye AF and up to 10FPS AF/AE for precision focus and high speed shooting. The Cinema Pro, powered by CineAlta offers 21:9 Movie recording in 4K HDR that promises best results – even in backlit scenes or low light.

The Sony Xperia 1 has a side-mounted Fingerprint sensor and has Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection on the front and the back. The device runs on Android 9.0 Pie out of the box and packs a 3300mAh battery with Qnovo Adaptive Charging technology, Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0, Qi Wireless charging. It supports dual SIM slot with dual standby, and for connectivity includes 4G VoLTE, 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac MIMO, GPS, GLONASS, NFC, Bluetooth 5, USB 3.1 C and the device measures 167 x 72 x 8.2mm.
