Sony has brought many new features to the CES 2019 regarding its new 2019 TV range. In addition to the Sony AG9 and AG8 OLED TVs, the company also announced the Sony XG95, XG90, and XG85 Ultra HD LCD TV line.
Sony XG95 is available in 55″, 65″, 75″ and 85″ options. All models use Full LED backlight with local dimming and X-Tended Dynamic Range Pro. The X1 Ultimate video processor, the same that we find on ZG9 and AG9. The specifications are therefore the same: Super Resolution “object-based”, HDR remover “object-based”, Super Bit Mapping 4K HDR and signal processing by a double database.
On the 75″ and 85″ models the X-Wide Angle technology is proposed, a filter that reduces the alteration of colors when looking at the screen from angled positions. The X-Motion Clarity technology was integrated for fast-moving image management.
Compatibility with HDR is naturally present and includes HDR10, HLG and Dolby Vision formats. The Smart TV platform consists of Android TV version based on Oreo with Google Assistant and support for AirPlay 2 and HomeKit. The microphone placed on the televisions allows you to freely interact through your voice, while a second microphone is also placed in the remote control.
On Sony XG95 we also find the calibration mode for Netflix and the IMAX Enhanced certification (as well as the Denon and Marantz products). The Acoustic Multi-Audio system is complete with Sound Positioning Tweeters, Sound-from-Picture Reali, y and Dolby Atmos.
The Sony XG90 series, on the other hand, available in only 49-inch option. The backlight is always Full LED with local dimming and X-Tended Dynamic Range Pro. Instead, the video processor changes: X1 Ultimate is replaced by the 4K HDR X1 Extreme. The rest of the equipment is in common with XG95 except for the calibration mode for Netflix, and audio system (less sophisticated on XG90) and the microphone integrated into the TV (absent here).
The last of the three in the series is the Sony XG85 will be available in 55″, 65″, 75″ and 85″ options. The backlight is LED Edge. The video processor is the 4K HDR X1, a further simplified version compared to the XG90 series. The audio section is basically the same as the XG95, while the rest of the equipment is in common with XG90.
Prices and availability will be announced soon.
