Sony has unveiled the Bravia X90J series 4K Ultra HD Smart LED TV, which is the first to receive the XR Cognitive Processor. The chip uses a new method of image and sound processing for a more realistic display of content, as well as upscaling of the picture and audio track.
The proprietary processor analyzes and adjusts the color, contrast, and detail of the image at the same time, making it more synchronized and realistic. This result is achieved by dividing the screen into multiple zones – the processor determines where the focus is on the image, just like the human brain does.
The picture is also enhanced with XR Contrast Booster for deeper blacks and more intense highlights. XR Motion Clarity delivers smooth, blur-free images, while XR 4K Upscaling programmatically upscales to 4K. Also, the chip adjusts the soundtrack to more closely match the image on the screen. To increase the realism of the scene, “flat” audio is also converted into three-dimensional using a special algorithm.
Sony X90J Ultra HD smart TV features four HDMI 2.1 ports supporting 4K @ 120 fps, variable refresh rate, auto low latency, and eARC. New Sony TV 2021 model also received a built-in light sensor that optimizes the picture in accordance with the environment.
Other useful features of 4K display TVs based on Google TV firmware include support for Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant voice assistants, Apple AirPlay 2 protocol and the HomeKit ecosystem, as well as Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos standards.
The company has already released three Sony X90J models in 50, 55, and 65 inches, and is available to buy on the Amazon.com and Bhphotovideo.com online stores, priced at $1298, $1398, and $1798, respectively.
