Sony has announced two new MP3 players under Sony Walkman WS620 series, made in the form factor of headphones called Sony NW-WS623 and NW-WS625. In addition to the portable music players are designed for serious training and outdoor activities use, from hiking and climbing to swimming in the sea.
Both Sony Walkman WS620 series comes with a rugged design, withstand against temperature fluctuations in the range from +45 to -5 degrees and are not afraid of exposure in salty water and sweat. The Sony Walkman NW-WS623 Player has IP65 dust and water resistance that allows immersion in water up to 30 minutes. Meanwhile, the Sony Walkman NW-WS625 with IP68 standard protection designed for a prolonged stay under water to a depth of two meters.
Compared with its predecessors, Sony Walkman WS620 series new products have lowered in size and weight: both are 35% less than WS610 series devices, 10% more compact than WS410 line, and weigh about 32 grams. For swimmers, Sony has added a complete set of special earbuds for both models. Both devices are equipped with a built-in microphone, Bluetooth and NFC support.
Both Sony Walkman WS620 series players when the battery is fully charged, have worked for up to 12 hours with wired headset and about 4 hours with a Bluetooth headset. It can take about 1.5 hours to fully charge, while the three minutes of charging gives about an hour of use. Both models support Ambient mode for safety reason.
The Sony Walkman WS623 will be available in black, blue, bright yellow and gray colors, while the WS625 in black color only. The NW-WS623 packs 4GB of memory for storing audio files, and the top model NW-WS625 comes with a 16GB of storage; and also comes with a remote control.
Both Sony Walkman WS620 series music players will be available in June this year. Sony Walkman NW-WS623 will cost about $141 / £110 / €129, and the Sony Walkman NW-WS625 for $164 / £150 / €150.
