Sony UMC-S3C, new 4K compact camera has been introduced in the official press release by Sony. This new 4K camera advertised with a very high sensitivity and full-frame 35m Exmor sensor in a compact body.
According to the Sony, this is the 4K Video Camera has the highest sensitivity in its segment, which allows users to record Ultra-HD 4K videos in low-light conditions. In addition to the ability to shoot 4K, this compact camera can capture stills with 12-megapixel sensor.
Sony UMC-S3C 4K camera features a full-frame 35mm Exmor sensor with an ISO range of 50-409600, a very high figure. This camera is equipped with E-mount lenses and weighs only 400gram. The camera uses a memory card slot with support for up to 64GB, so users can record up to 125 minutes long 4K video at 30fps/60Mbps. If you choose the standard XAVC S format at 100Mbps higher than the recording time will be reduced.
Sony UMC-S3C will be the camera for those who need 4K recording along with a compact camera body as much as possible. Sony said, new 4K camcorder will go on sale in the US in August 2016 for an as yet unspecified price.
Commenting on the launch, “New products like the UMC-S3C allow us to expand our 4K line-up and bring high resolution and high sensitivity to new markets,” said Atsushi Seki, Director, Business Development at Sony Electronics. “This latest video camera is a testament to Sony’s continuing efforts to provide solutions that meet users’ individual business requirements.”
Speaking on Sony 4K camera, Sony recently announced the SNC-VB770 security camera to record images and videos in dark night conditions. This is a 4K mirrorless camera, E-mount lenses with 12.2-megapixel full-frame sensor, quite similar specs as UMC-S3C.
Both the UMC-S3C and SNC-VB770 4K cameras should be best practice for Broadcast News, live TVs or surveillance.
