Sony SRS-XV800 wireless loudspeaker promise 25 hours of runtime

With the SRS-XV800, Sony is presenting a portable wireless loudspeaker outdoor and indoor model that, thanks to the 360-degree sound, should also cut a fine figure on the TV as a soundbar replacement. Sony combines two 170-millimeter woofers with two tweeters.

With the SRS-XV800, Sony competes with the Samsung Sound Tower MX-ST90B (about $500 on Amazon). With dimensions of 72 x 37.5 x 31.7 centimeters and a weight of 18.5 kilograms, the wireless loudspeaker outdoor model is not particularly compact, but Sony promises a battery life of 25 hours and enormous power to fill even the most boisterous parties with sound.

Sony has also installed two X-Balanced woofers with a diameter of 170 millimeters and tweeters on the front and back, which enable 360-degree sound, which should make the sound convincing regardless of the speaker’s positioning. Two SRS-XV800s can be combined into a stereo pair using the Sony Music Center smartphone app. The integrated handle and the two wheels should make transport easier.

For the connection to smartphones, Sony installs a Bluetooth 5.2 module that supports Sony LDAC in addition to SBC and AAC. Optical digital input allows the speaker to be conveniently connected to a TV to use the SRS-XV800 as a replacement for a soundbar. A USB-A port allows smartphones to be charged with up to 7.5 watts. The speaker’s RGB lighting automatically synchronizes with the beat of the music.
