With the launch of the LinkBuds Open, Sony introduces innovative earphones featuring a unique design. These Sony earbuds open back and come equipped with a ring driver with an opening in the membrane, allowing for optimal perception of the surrounding environment.
In addition to the LinkBuds Fit and the LinkBuds Speaker, Sony showcased the new LinkBuds Open this evening. The manufacturer claims these successors to the original LinkBuds feature a completely redesigned open-ring design for enhanced audio transparency.
The newly developed ring driver in the Sony LinkBuds Open includes an opening at the center of the membrane, which maximizes transparency. This design enables users to fully experience Ambient Sounds while enjoying music, listening to audiobooks, or making phone calls.
For playback performance, Sony employs 11 mm ring drivers with a highly flexible membrane and a powerful neodymium magnet. The V2 processor powers these earphones, a technology that Sony also incorporates in its WF-1000XM5 noise-canceling headphones (REVIEW). The LinkBuds Open also comes with adaptive volume control, an intelligent feature that automatically adjusts the volume according to the ambient noise level. Furthermore, they support DSEE (Digital Sound Enhancement Engine) to deliver crystal-clear audio and precise voice pickup technology for improved voice transmission, according to Sony.
Like the LinkBuds Fit, the new LinkBuds Open earplugs promise a particularly comfortable and secure fit. An advanced geometric shape enhances wearing comfort, making these earphones ideal for extended use. The new earplugs also include numerous functions such as Auto Switch, Auto Play, quick access, voice control, and Wide Area Tap, which enables touch-free control by tapping the area in front of the ear. Sony claims that the LinkBuds Open feature a splash-proof design with an IPX4 rating and provide a battery life of up to 22 hours.
