Sony unexpectedly unveiled its new Planar T* FE 50mm F1.4 ZA lens for full-frame E-mount cameras. Quite interesting thing this is a rare lens from Sony which is based on the Zeiss Planar optical concept, of course the FE 50mm F1.4 ZA designed similar to the FE 35mm F1.4 ZA lens. 
The Zeiss Planar optical design benefits users by providing an almost distortion-free image, it works with a 12-element in 9-group design while the incorporation of 1 Advanced Aspherical, 1 aspherical, and 1 extra-low dispersion element work to minimize spherical and chromatic aberrations. It comes with Zeiss T* coating to minimize reflections in order to provide greater image clarity and color fidelity.
Sony FE 50mm F1.4 ZA lens also possesses 11-blade circular diaphragm as we have seen on 85mm F1.4 prime G Master lens that improves image quality by ensuring smooth bokeh at a wide range of aperture settings. With f/1.4 aperture (f/1.8 aperture optional), photographers can capture an exceptional low-light images along with the ability to create shallow depth-of field effects.
Lens system with manual aperture ring can be de-clicked for smooth, silent aperture switching to benefit video applications. It also features a dust and moisture-sealed design that helps photographers to work in hard conditions and environments. This lens is also compatible with APS-C models where it will provide a 75mm equivalent focal length. 
The Sony FE 50mm F1.4 ZA lens will be available this month at a price of $1,500.
