Sony has unveiled the LinkBuds WF-L900, a brand new Sony Bluetooth earbuds wireless model that offers an extremely unusual design and concept that is at odds with most of its competitors. And the Sony LinkBuds review has already shown what the best true wireless earbuds have to offer.
In contrast to most of the competitors, the Sony LinkBuds WF-L900 does not try to shield the user from the environment with noise suppression that is as effective as possible. On the contrary: the Sony Bluetooth earbuds are designed in the shape of a donut so that the auditory canal remains open and ambient noise is not blocked.
Sony describes this design as groundbreaking because the LinkBuds should seamlessly connect the online and offline worlds. According to Sony, this design makes the Sony ear buds perfect for augmented reality applications. The design and the weight of around 4 grams should ensure the highest possible wearing comfort. The battery lasts 5.5 hours of music playback, the charging case stores enough energy for around two charges.
The LinkBuds support Fast Pair with Android devices and Swift Pair with Windows devices, depending on the connected device either Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa is available for voice control. In order to control playback, you don’t have to touch the Sony true wireless earbuds, but your own face in front of the earphones – the taps are recognized by motion sensors. The 12 mm ring drivers, in conjunction with features such as Sony’s DSEE, should enable the richest possible, balanced sound, and the volume can automatically adapt to the environment.
In the Sony LinkBuds review by The Verge and ComputerBase as well as in the video by Tech Spurt embedded below, the new Sony Bluetooth earbuds were largely convincing – the earphones should sound good and offer first-class wearing comfort, but the open design means they are not suitable for loud environments, Bluetooth multipoint – Connections are not possible.
