Sony has expanded its 2018 TV series with the launch of the new XF75, WF66 and RF45 series, which are added to the X900F and X850F series, the products were announced at CES 2018.
Sony XF75 offers in 43″, 49″ , 55″ and 65″ screen sizes. The panels are all LED-backlit LCDs (at the moment the type is not available, although it is probably LED Edge) with Ultra HD resolution. The video processor is the 4K X-Reality Pro, the same that we find on the X850F TV.
HDR video playback is supported in HDR10 and HLG formats. The Smart TV platform consists of Android TV, complete with voice control and all the most popular services, such as Amazon Prime Video, YouTube, and Netflix. Then there is the compensation of the motion, entrusted to Motionflow XR technology, and the processing of sound through ClearAudio+.
The Sony WF66 will be available in 43″ and 50″ screen sizes, both with Full HD resolution and X-Reality Pro video processor. There is no mention of Android TV OS: Sony does not provide details for now, but everything seems to indicate the use of the simplified platform that the Japanese brand uses on the lower-end models and Ultra HD Blu-ray players. Therefore, there will be some applications, but the variety assured by the Google system will not be present. Instead, HDR will be supported, almost certainly always in the form of HDR10 and HLG.
To close the above is the Sony RF45 series, available only in the 43″ size. The characteristics are very similar to those of the WF66, from which it seems to stand out mainly due to some difference in design. We speak of Full HD LCD compatible with HDR.
Prices and availability will be announced soon.
