Sony has finally altered the design of its smartphones after years of maintaining the square boxy appearance with straight lines, wide edges and side-faced fingerprint sensor of the device. Practically everything has changed with the new Ambient Flow Design for the Xperia ZZ2 and XZ2 Compact.
One of the main changes sees at the back panel, it has a curve with the thinner sides and a slightly thick center. This gives a great feeling, quite comfortable to hold. But it also has some drawbacks.
Among the few drawbacks that it makes it harder to operate the smartphone when placed on the desk. Do you just want to check your notifications? With a straight back, it’s simple. Just turn on the screen and see if there is something interesting or important. With the curved back, the thing is not as simple as you can see in the video below (Specific scene covered in GIF).
When interacting with the Xperia XZ2 placed on the table, there is a great chance that the device will move, including a light spin. It is a small disadvantage that some users should take into account when choosing a smartphone.
Despite this detail, the device is very interesting. It has all the quality of the top flagship from Sony, with a new look, comfortable format, and good innovations.
The device is expected to hit stores in major markets in the coming weeks. We do not have any official release date for the USA, but it is expected to available this month.
