With the Xperia 5 IV, Sony has introduced an exciting premium smartphone that is significantly more compact than most of its competitors and can boast a large battery, powerful camera equipment, and waterproof housing.

With dimensions of 156 x 67 millimeters, the Sony Xperia 5 IV 2022 has shrunk by one millimeter both in height and width, but Sony was able to increase the battery from 4,500 mAh to 5,000 mAh. With the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, the Sony 5 IV smartphone promises first-class performance, but it’s a shame that the more modern and economical Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 isn’t used. The housing is IP68 certified and therefore protected against dust and water, both the display and the back are protected from scratches by robust Gorilla Glass Victus.

The 6.1-inch OLED panel offers a resolution of 2,520 x 1,080 pixels and a frame rate of 120 Hz. Together with the touch sampling rate of 240 Hz, the device should be perfect for gaming enthusiasts, gaming sessions can even be live streamed. In terms of sound, the smartphone offers a 3.5 mm headphone jack as well as support for Bluetooth LE Audio and Sony LDAC. Sony also attaches great importance to the cameras in the Xperia 5 IV. That starts with the selfie camera, which has a larger 12 MP sensor in 1/2.9 inch format.
