Sonos Arc Dolby Atmos Soundbar offers Eleven Speakers, and Voice Assistants

Sonos is finally replacing its aging Dolby Atmos Soundbar with a completely new model. The Sonos Arc is the company’s first Bluetooth soundbar that supports Dolby Atmos. The company relies on eleven Sonos speakers, but the Arc is not cheap.

Just as rumors had predicted, the Sonos Soundbar is finally getting a real successor. The Arc relies on the new Sonos S2 platform – older Sonos speakers that do not receive an update for the new Sonos app can therefore not be used together with the Arc. In return, Sonos promises better audio quality, improved security, and some other features that are yet to be announced.

With the help of Dolby Atmos and a total of 76,000 holes in the loudspeaker grille of the Arc, the sound stage should be larger than ever. The Dolby Atmos soundbar for TV is now even wider, which is a result of the TV home theatre system getting bigger and bigger. If you still use a smaller TV, Sonos Beam (starts from $399 on Bhphoto and Amazon) could be the better choice.

Eleven speakers are responsible for the optimal sound, including eight woofers and three tweeters. If you want to expand the Arc into a 7.1 surround system, you can add the new Sonos Sub 3 and two Sonos One SL (starts from $179 on Bhphoto and Amazon) and define them in the app as a surrounding group. Voice control via Alexa or Google Assistant is also on board, as is AirPlay 2.

Price and availability

The Sonos Arc Dolby Atmos Soundbar will be available in Black and White colors from June 10 for a suggested retail price of $799 and is also listed in the Bhphotovideo.com store. The new Sonos S2 app available in advance, so the company gives its customers a little bit of time to prepare their system for the arrival of the new soundbar.
