Sigma adds new Contemporary lenses for Sony E, Leica L, and Nikon Z mounts

Sigma announced the release of three new compact Contemporary prime lenses for mirrorless systems: Sony E & Leica L and three more existing lenses for the Nikon Z mount. The new lenses are Sigma 17mm f4 DG DN Contemporary, Sigma 23mm f1.4 DC DN Contemporary, and Sigma 50mm f2 DG DN Contemporary. The 17mm F4 and 50mm F2 are full-frame lenses, while the 23mm f1.4 is for APS-C format cameras.

Sigma 17mm f4 DG DN Contemporary

The Sigma 17mm f4 DG DN Contemporary boasts an ultra-wide angle of view, designed specifically for full-frame mirrorless systems. Weighing 225 grams (L-mount version) and 48.8mm long, it features a metal body with a textured focus ring, aperture ring, and lens hood. The lens comes with both metal magnetic and snap-on lens caps.

It provides a 12cm focus distance and a 1:3.6 magnification ratio for close-up photography, making it ideal for vloggers, hikers, and landscape photographers. The developer claims that the lens’ stepping motor provides fast autofocus for stills and video.

The Sigma 50mm f2 DG DN Contemporary is also designed for full-frame mirrorless systems. This “standard” prime lens is available in Sony E and Leica L mount versions. It features an AF/MF switch and an aperture ring on an all-metal body.

Its f/2 maximum aperture delivers beautiful bokeh, and its optical design delivers performance “comparable to a 50mm f1.4 DG DN | Art” in a more compact body (37% less length, 48% less weight).
