Sigma 70mm f/2.8 DG Art Macro Lens for Leica L Mount: Pre-Order, Availability

In February 2018, Sigma introduced the first Art series lens, which is designed for macro photography. The lens called Sigma 70mm f/2.8 DG Macro Art Lens and the manufacturer then stated that this new macro lens will be available for Sigma, Canon and Sony camera mounts.

And now a message was posted on the Sigma website, which would please owners of L-mount cameras, such as the Sigma fp camera. The manufacturer said that this month the lens will start shipping another version of the Sigma 70mm f/2.8 DG Macro Art Lens with L Mount.

The lens delivery also includes LH708-01 hood and case. The manufacturer does not name the price, but acceptance of pre-orders have already begun on the Bhphotovideo.com website, which has led to the finding that the price of the new option is the same as the previous one – $569.

The Sigma 70mm f/2.8 DG Macro Art Lens for Leica L is a true 1:1, life-size macro lens well-suited for close-up and macro subjects. It has a sophisticated optical design that makes use of two FLD elements, two SLD elements, one anomalous partial dispersion/high refractive index element, and two aspherical elements to limit both chromatic and spherical aberrations for high clarity, sharpness, and color accuracy.

It comes with a Super Multi-Layer Coating which enhances image quality by suppressing lens flare and ghosting for improved contrast and color fidelity in strong lighting conditions. Additionally, a rounded nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality.

The lens is constructed using a Thermally Stable Composite (TSC) material, along with metals. The bayonet mount is constructed from brass for ensured accuracy and durability. Additionally, rubber sealing is incorporated in the mount design to render it dust- and splash-resistant. Compatible with optional EM-140 DG Macro Ring Flash when used in conjunction with the separate 65mm Macro Flash Adapter for even lighting as close working distances. It is also compatible with optional TC-1401 and TC-2001 Teleconverters.
