Sigma has announced a pair of premium compact lenses: the 24mm F2 DG DN Contemporary and 90mm F2.8 DG DN Contemporary with Sony E and Leica L mounts. The Sigma lenses are all-metal, equipped with aperture rings and weather protection.
The 24mm F2 DG DN consists of 13 elements in 11 groups, including two aspherical, one FLD (low dispersion), and two SLD (special low dispersion) elements. Super multi-layer coating reduces flare and ghosting. The focus group of the lens is silently driven by a stepper motor. The lens comes with a metal hood, snap-on, and magnetic caps. The lens has a 62mm filter thread.
The minimum focusing distance is 0.25m and the maximum magnification is 0.15x. The lens size is 70x72mm for the L-mount version and 70x74mm for the Sony E. They weigh 365g and 360g, respectively.
The Sigma 90mm F2.8 DG DN is slightly less than 24mm and 55mm filters are used. It consists of 11 elements, including one aspherical and five SLD elements. As with the 24mm F2, a stepper motor is used to control the focusing device at 90mm.
The minimum focal length for this lens is 0.5m with a maximum magnification of 0.2x. It measures 64 x 60 mm for the L-mount and 64 x 62 mm for the E-mount. Both weigh just 295 g.
